EXECUTIVE REPORTS 2025
President:
Bev Klebanosky
As we conclude another memorable season, I am proud to reflect on the tremendous progress and success the Parkland Minor Ball Association has achieved this year. Our athletes, coaches, volunteers, and families have all contributed to a strong and vibrant season that showcased both the recreational joy of the sport and the competitive excellence our players continue to develop.
A Successful Season for All Athletes
This year marked one of our most successful seasons to date—both on the recreational and competitive sides of the program.
- Recreational teams benefited from increased participation, stronger player development, and positive feedback from families about coaching support and game-day experiences.
- Competitive teams demonstrated exceptional commitment and sportsmanship, earning strong results across multiple divisions and tournaments. The level of skill and teamwork displayed on the field speaks volumes about the dedication of our athletes and the guidance provided by our coaching staff.
Policy and Procedure Review
A significant accomplishment for the association this year was the comprehensive review of our policies and procedures. This work was essential to ensuring our operations remain transparent, consistent, and aligned with best practices in youth sport governance. By updating and modernizing these documents, we have positioned the association for long-term stability and improved communication with our members. I would like to thank the office and board members who dedicated countless hours to this initiative.
Volunteer Requirements and Community Support
Another highlight of the year was the improved success of our mandatory volunteer requirement bingo process. Thanks to clearer expectations, organization, and outstanding cooperation from our families, this season’s volunteer program ran far more smoothly than in previous years.
This resulted in much-needed financial support for the association, helping us continue to invest in equipment, field improvements, player development opportunities, and the overall quality of the program.
Looking Ahead
An important step forward this year was the beginning of work on a 5-year strategic plan, which will guide our goals, priorities, and decision-making as we continue to grow. This plan will help us focus our efforts, strengthen our long-term vision, and ensure the association remains responsive to the needs of our athletes and families.
As we look ahead to the coming seasons, our goals include:
- Continuing to strengthen player development pathways for all levels
- Supporting our coaches through ongoing training and mentorship
- Enhancing communication and transparency with families
- Building on our operational improvements to ensure a positive experience for every member of the association
- Using the strategic planning process to shape sustainable growth and long-term success
Closing Remarks
I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to our board, coaches, volunteers, players, and families. Your dedication and passion are what make the Parkland Minor Ball Association a strong and thriving organization. Together, we have created a successful season that reflects the spirit of teamwork, resilience, and community that defines our association.
Thank you for another outstanding year, and I look forward to everything we will accomplish together in the seasons to come.

Vice President:
Darren Badry
Congratulations to the Parkland Minor Baseball Association for another successful season. PMBA continues to provide excellent player development opportunities for Tri-Region athletes. The association has been able to stay committed to professional, affordable and valuable development for all players, at all ages and levels of play.
Thanks to our volunteers, board members and GM Amy Procter for their commitment and dedication to our association and athletes. A special thank you to all of our coaches who give their time and energy every spring and summer to allow our athletes every opportunity to play the game they love and chase their dreams. In a time where expectations and demands on coaches and volunteers continues to grow at a sometimes unrealistic pace our association continues to manage the demands at an incredible level. No one is perfect but I would challenge anyone to find another association that provides the value, capacity development opportunities of PMBA.
The role of the VP focuses on supporting various areas of the organization and the coordinators that get the real work done. Thanks to all of the coordinators for this past season’s successes. There were very few issues that made their way to the VP level via our complaint policy this season. Support was provided to the player evaluation process, DMI tournament organization and recent policy review.
As we continue to see for-profit entities creep into the Tri-Regional baseball community, PMBA will have to continue to focus on providing value-driven,professional, performance focused, year round development opportunities for area athletes. The work of our PSAA Twins Baseball Academy and staff have been fundamental to our ability to retain a large number of our area athletes. With the recent success of our Toronto Blue Jays, PMBA should be prepared to see an increase in registration and also demands on our volunteer base and facilities.
I look forward to the 2026 baseball season and the opportunities it will bring.

Rep Director:
Allan Lyster
This was my third year volunteering as a Rep Director for PMBA and I have really enjoyed getting to know many of the families within PMBA that put in an incredible amount of time and effort to help make the rep baseball season successful each year! I’d like to thank all of the other board members for putting in all of the work that is required to make PMBA the association that it has grown into and all of the OFM’s who were a pleasure to work with throughout the 2025 season. This was the second year that PMBA had a General Manager and this has really helped out with the operation of the organization overall which resulted in a great 2025 season, big shout out to Amy Procter who has done a fantastic job as the GM for Parkland Minor Baseball! I’d also like to thank all of the amazing coaches that we have within PMBA for dedicating a huge amount of their summer months to the development of our athletes both on and off the field. At the 11U level there were four AA teams which is great to see and shows the strength of the program with so many young baseball players within PMBA developing for future years. At the 13U level we had one AAA team and three AA teams. At the 15U level we had one AAA team and three AA teams. At the 18U level we had the BAEL teams and two AA teams. With fifteen teams between the different age groups diamond space continues to be a challenge with most teams stacking practices. The coaches and OFM’s did a great job working around the diamond availability and making accommodations when required. The 2025 Rep Season went very well at all age groups with no major issues to address.
Registration:
A massive thank you to Larysa Esslemont who was the PMBA Registrar for the 2025 season. This is a very time consuming position within PMBA and Larysa did a fantastic job ensuring that all players were able to register and that all of the lists were up to date.
Rep Program Evaluations:
Thank you to all of the volunteers who were involved in the eval process. The evaluations were run by Chris James with the support of PMBA coaches. Thank you all for putting in an incredible amount of time during the evaluations, it’s a lot of long days and late nights to get to the point where all of the teams are formed. With fifteen Rep Teams being formed for the 2025 season the turnout for evaluations was very strong with many athletes competing to make the PMBA rep teams in 2025.
Twins Rep Team Formation:
Thank you to all of the coaches and OFM’s who dedicated countless hours to ensure that our players had a successful season of development and continued to grow their love of the game. There are also many people behind the scenes that are crucial in ensuring a great season for our players and all of your help is appreciated. Development and player growth are the keys to a successful season and this clearly isn’t always reflected in onfield results but there were several teams that had success in their respective Provincial Championships that should be recognized:
- 15UAA Team Red - Tier 6 provincials champions.
- 13UAAA - Finished 3rd at provincials and represented Parkland at Westerns.
- 13UAA Team Blue - Tier 2 provincial champions.
- 13UAA Team White - Tier 10 provincial champions.
- 11UAA Team Gold - Tier 1 provincial silver.
- 11UAA Team Blue - Tier 6 provincial champions.
- 11UAA Team Red - Tier 7 provincial champions.

Darin McDonald Memorial Tournament (DMM)
The DMM Tournament ran for the 9th season and was a great weekend, we also lucked out with fantastic weather again this year. The tournament was full at every level with many teams wanting to attend and teams have already reached out for the 2025 tournament. Without all of the Parkland teams hosting and everyone stepping up to ensure diamonds are ready and having volunteers to work the games the weekend wouldn’t be possible. I had a lot of positive feedback from teams attending the tournament, well done!
Thanks again to everyone for helping to make 2025 a great season for our baseball players within PMBA. If any coaches or managers have any suggestions on the DMM or any other components of the Rep program please forward suggestions to seniorrrepdirector@pmba.com
Looking forward to the 2025 season!

Recreation Director:
Michael Coene
As we wrap up the 2025 season, Parkland Minor Baseball Association reflects on an incredible year filled with growth, community spirit, and memories that will last a lifetime. This season saw an increase in numbers of athletes joining the league, an increase in volunteer support, and the continued success of our core mission:providing a positive, fun, and inclusive environment for all who love the game of baseball.
This year, we saw over 360 athletes across 31 teams, in addition to 180 athletes on 30 teams in our Rally Cap program. We experienced excellent numbers in both player registration and family attendance at games. It is great to see baseball thriving in our community!
Our season began with evaluations taking place March 16th for 15U and 18U and April 12th & 13th for 9U, 11U and 13U, which were run quickly and efficiently with many parents volunteering with evaluations on field. In combination with dry weather and town maintenance, we were able to get on the diamonds a week early to allow additional practice times before our scheduled days of play which was nice. With minimal weather cancellations it allowed for a full and successful season.
In addition to a competitive season, we also hosted our year end tournament for our 9U, 11U & 13U levels on June 20th, 21st & 22nd. The tournament not only showcased our league’s talent but also lots of smiles and fun combined with great weather. A lunch was provided for athletes and coaches on Saturday as well. It was great to see our diamonds packed with athletes, friends and families showing their support! Congratulations to all participants for an excellent 2025 baseball season!
This year was the 2nd year of mandatory volunteer credits, the growing pains from last year with a few changes really saw the program run much better. Our relationship and commitment to the Spruce Grove Bingo Hall is important to our association and has proved successful. Special thank you to everyone that participated and helped ensure the success!
This season, we had the privilege of watching many talented young athletes grow both on and off the field.
Special recognition goes to our Gavin Baron Memorial Award recipient Isaiah Epp, who showed outstanding sportsmanship, team dedication and leadership. Additional recognition to our junior coach of the year Sheldon Tyschuk as well as our Senior coach of the year Kevin Roberts, who went beyond in mentoring our players. We also want to acknowledge the dedication of all our volunteer coaches and parents who make our league possible. Their time, energy, and commitment are at the heart of our success.
As we look toward the 2026 season, we are excited about new possibilities and continuing to build a keen sense of community through baseball. We are actively seeking more volunteers to join our league, particularly in coaching. If you are interested in getting involved, please do not hesitate to reach out!
I want to recognize our recreation level coordinators that helped ensure a successful recreation season: 9U - Bill Ostrowerka, 11U - Adam Colameco, 13U - Gord Thibodeau, ERRBL - Bill Quinn. Your time and dedication to PMBA is commendable and appreciated!
Finally, I want to express my heartfelt thanks to every athlete, coach, volunteer, and family member who made this season a success. Your passion, dedication, and support are what make Parkland Minor Baseball Association a special place for kids and families alike. We could not have done it without you!

Umpire Director:
Gavin McConnell
Our umpiring started on March 22, 2025 when PMBA hosted a Level 1 umpire clinic, then a Level 2 clinic the following day. There were 36 attendees for Level 1 and 15 for Level 2.
On April 26 we had a Level 4 umpire and a Level 2 umpire do two 15U AA exhibition games with 6 new umpires watching and shadowing them. Thanks to Scott Hagel and Nolan Quintal for their mentorship.
The Darren McDonald Tournament required umpires to be imported from other associations as many of our local umpires were playing in the tournament.
We hosted two Provincials in July. I was the crew chief and mentor for both. We used eleven local umpires for 11U A, and six local umpires plus one from Red Deer for 11U AA Tier 1. They all worked very hard and were receptive to any input from me. In terms of umpiring, both provincials were successful.
Fall ball had its challenges as many umpires were busy with other activities. With a pool of 16 umpires we covered 30 games, and also had two umpires go to Sherwood Park for two games,
Thanks to Amy Procter for doing the assigning for all the league and exhibition games. Everything ran smoothly. We were fortunate to have a good pool of umpires to draw from.
Looking forward to next year.
